‘Son’ is Cuba’s principal dance and song form and the root of Salsa. Fusing African and Spanish elements, it ranges in style from simple, rustic bands to the brassy arrangements of New York salsa. This album is literally a ‘who’s who’ in Cuban music and it explores the rich traditions of Cuban music, from its conception is the early 1900s to the present day big band revivals.
